Event Time and Date
On one Friday evening per month, Tigers for Autism Awareness and Volunteer LSU will offer volunteers the opportunity to earn community service hours by spending quality social time with their peers who have special needs. These events will be filled with activities including board games, Bingo, card games, crafts, video games, and any other interests of their members and volunteers.
“Everyone wants to have friends. But people walk fast, and talk fast, and they don’t take time. They don’t stop – to listen. So, those with special needs may not always have an easy time making friends." The founder of the first Friday Night Club said, "when my older sister and brother left home for college, my severely autistic brother, Andrew, was very sad. I was worried, because my brother, my sister and I were Andrew’s only friends. How would Andrew feel when I left for college and he was home with no friends? So I decided to throw a party to help Andrew make some friends - and the Friday Night Club for Special Needs Teens & Young Adults was born!"
At Friday Night Out, "people with a variety of diagnoses and levels of ability come together in friendship and fun. One person’s weakness is another person’s strength!" Come join us from 5:45 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. on February 3rd, March 3rd, and April 21st for a fun Friday Night with our local friends!
